Air India introduced mobile check-in facility for its domestic passengers from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru on 7 April 2011. The facility will be extended to other stations as well as international flights in a phased manner.

The facility enables passengers to check-in for their flights from their web enabled mobile handsets by accessing http://flyai.mobi and then follow the sequence wise instructions on the mobile screen. The facility is aimed at eliminating queues and reducing the waiting time. There already exist similar facilities as tele check-in, web check-in and self check-in kiosks for passengers.

Only one passenger will be able to check in through a single transaction.  However, in case of multi-passenger PNR, where more than one passenger has to check in, each passenger would need to check in separately. Also passengers with check-in baggage may also avail this facility. Passengers with check-in baggage will have to hand over the check-in luggage to the dedicated baggage drop-off counter before proceeding for security check and boarding.
