Narendra Kumar took over as the Managing Director of Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) on 22 April 2013. IGL is the only supplier of the Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Delhi.
Narendra Kumar replaced M Ravindran, who in turn was appointed as the Director (HR) of GAIL India Ltd, the state gas utility.
IGL is the joint venture of Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd and GAIL along with the Government of Delhi, which holds 5 percent equity stake.
About Narendra Kumar
• Narendra Kumar is the Electrical Engineering Graduate who has 32 years of experience in the hydrocarbon and fertilisers industry.
• He was also the Executive Director (Operations & Maintenance) as well as the Officer-in-charge of GAIL’s central region, based in Madhya Pradesh.
• Before he became the part of GAIL in 1990, he served at the IFFCO for 10 years at Aonla and Phulpur Fertiliser plants.
IGL offers Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in not just Delhi, but also in the National Capital Region. At present, there are 286 CNG stations in operation in greater Noida, Noida, Ghaziabad and Delhi. PNG, on the other hand, is being supplied to 386000 hoses in Delhi and NCR.
