Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s book, Convenient Action-Gujarat's Response to Challenges of Climate Change was launched on 21 December 2010. The book was launched by former President Abdul Kalam and DG of TERI, R K Pauchari. Modi is the second politician after vice President of USA, Al Gore to write a book on the issue of global warming. Al Gore had written bestselling book An Inconvenient Truth. The book has mention of the efforts Gujarat has made to tackle the global issue of global warming resulting in climate change.


President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam was all praises for the Sabarmati Riverfront Project which he held as an inspiration for the nation in desilting. Kalam also advised Modi to pioneer initiatives to make Gujarat a carbon-neutral state by 2030. Modi reiterated the message of the book in his speech. He observed that the ecological debt should not be passed on to future generations and that while tackling the challenge of climate change, the focus should be on climate justice.
