Pakistan test fired a newly developed short-range surface-to-surface missile, Hatf-9 capable of carrying a nuclear warhead on 19 April 2011. Hatf-9 which has a range of 60 km can carry nuclear warheads of appropriate yield with high accuracy.
The multi-tube ballistic missile system was developed to add deterrence value to Pakistan's strategic weapons development programme at shorter ranges. The quick response multi-tube ballistic missile system addresses the need to deter evolving threats.
Pakistan routinely tests such indigenously developed missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads, with its arsenal including short, medium and long-rage missiles.
