On 8 November evening, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a nationwide televised address announced that 1000 and 500 rupees notes will cease to be legal tender from midnight 8-9 November 2016.

This withdrawal of the highest denomination of banknotes left many moneyless, as these are the notes that are easily available via ATMs that is the best mode of getting money at times of need.
