Anil Joshi, the Cabinet Minister of Punjab, on 5 March 2017 inaugurated tricolour on the tallest flag post at Indo-Pakistan Attari border. The flag was hoisted on the Indian side, which is located just at a stone throw away distance from Pakistan.
The flag post was built at an approximate cost of Rs 3.50 crore was a project of the Amritsar Improvement Trust Authority of Punjab Government. Measurement of the flag post

Due to the election Code of Conduct is in place in the state, the minister has availed special permission from the Election Commission for the inauguration.
The flag post became attraction for thousands of tourists who were present at Wagha border to watch the Beating Retreat Ceremony during the sunset. Even visitors from Pakistan’s gallery were also watching the Indian flag with keen interest touching the sky.
Due to its size, it is visible from all sides even from Pakistan’s Lahore city too. The flagpole was set up near the tourism building just at 150 meters distance from border.
