A quadripartite summit attended by Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan was held on 18 August 2010 in Sochi (Russia). In the summit the participating nations decided to step up joint fight against terrorism. The countries highlighted "terrorism" and "drug trafficking" as "threat to peace and stability". The quadripartite summit was the second such one-day meeting organised by the countries. The four countries decided to intensify joint efforts in fighting terrorism and narcotics in the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO). The countries would undertake joint economic projects in power generation, transport infrastructure and mining. Projects like restoring the Salang tunnel in northern Afghanistan and rebuilding the country's hydropower plants were highlighted. In the summit it was also decided that four-way summits would be supplemented with meetings of the Economic and Foreign Ministers. The four presidents met for the first time in Dushanbe, the Tajikistan capital in July 2009. The third summit would also be held in Tajikistan.
