Weightlifter Seepani Yamini from Andhra Pradesh was recently suspended for two years for an anti-doping rule violation. The National Anti-Doping Disciplinary panel suspended Yamini for two years from the date of sample collection (10 October 2009) for testing positive for steroid stanozolol in an out-of-competition test. Yamini, however during her hearing on 5 May 2010 said she was prescribed medicines by a doctor employed with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Bangalore. She admitted that she was taking proteins and creatine.
