Shekhar Dutt, the Governor of Chhattisgarh resigned

Chhattisgarh Governor, Shekhar Dutt tendered his resignation to the President of India amid pressure of NDA government.

Shekhar DuttShekhar Dutt, the Governor of Chhattisgarh tendered his resignation to Pranab Mukherjee, the President of India on 18 June 2014. Dutt’s tenure as the Governor was supposed to end in January 2015. He was appointed as the Governor of Chhattisgarh on 23 January 2010.

About Shekhar Dutt
• He is an IAS officer of 1969 batch of Madhya Pradesh cadre
• Before being appointed as the Governor, he was Deputy National Security Adviser under the UPA government from 1 August 2007
• He was appointed as the as Defence Secretary on 1 August 2005
• From 1991-1996, he served as the joint secretary in the Ministry of Defence
• He is a recipient of Sena Medal for gallantry in 1971 India-Pak war
