TECHNOTEX-2014: International Exhibition and Conference Launched in Mumbai

The Union Minister of State for Textiles Panabaka Lakshmi launched the TECHNOTEX-2014: International Exhibition and Conference in Mumbai. TECHNOTEX-2014: International Exhibition and Conference will be held from 20 March 2014 to 22 March 2014 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai.

It is important to note that the market size of technical textiles in India grew from 42000 crore Rupees in 2007-08 to 91236 crores in 2013-14 at a CAGR of about 11 percent. The sector carries a potential to reach 1.58 lakh crore Rupees by 2016-17 at the year-on-year growth rate of 20 percent during 12th Five Year Plan.

Objective of TECHNOTEX – 2014

• Promotion of the technical textiles sector is the primary objective of TECHNOTEX – 2014.
• TECHNOTEX – 2014 will provide the necessary impetus for the growth of this sector in India.

What are technical textiles?

Technical textiles are textile material and products used for their technical performance and functional properties. They include tyre cord, fabrics, airbags, industrial textiles, furniture lining, tents, fire services equipments, bullet proof jackets, parachutes etc.


The third edition of TECHNOTEX, organized by FICCI in collaboration with the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, is expected to see large participation of industry leaders, exporters and policy makers to identify new business opportunities and find innovative solution.
