Indian Current Affairs 2011. With the objective of protecting both domestic and foreign tourists from getting fleeced by fly-by-night travel agents

With the objective of protecting both domestic and foreign tourists from getting fleeced by fly-by-night travel agents, Delhi state government made the registration of all travel agents and tour operators mandatory in New Delhi.

The tourists could now register complaints against deficiency of services to the tourism department. If the charges are proved against any tour operator, the tourism department can cancel the permit and send the operator to jail. According to an estimate there are about 3500 tour operators and travel agents operating in Delhi.
