1. (a) Anshula Kant

Anshula Kant, managing director of the State Bank Of India, has been appointed as managing director and chief financial officer of the World Bank. Kant is a graduate in Economic Honours from Lady Shri Ram College for Women and a Post-Graduate in Economics from Delhi School of Economics.

2. (c) Bangladesh

Bhutan can now transport goods to Bangladesh through India. The transportation that will save 30 % cost and eight-ten days of time is a first of many to come as Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) will facilitate trade between Bhutan and Bangladesh via the country's waterways.

3. (b) Novak Djokovic

Djokovic defeated Federer 7-6 (7/5), 1-6, 7-6 (7/4), 4-6, 13-12 (7/3) in the longest ever final and settled by an historic tie-break. Djokovic's victory extends to 11 successive Grand Slams won by the big three, himself, Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Rashid Khan has been appointed the captain of Afghanistan cricket team in all three formats. Former skipper Asghar Afghan will be his deputy, the Afghanistan Cricket Board announced recently.

Senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra has appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, replacing Acharya Devvrat, who has been transferred and appointed as the Governor of Gujarat. Kalraj Mishra, 78, had resigned from the Narendra Modi-led government as Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in 2017 after he crossed the age of 75.

England became the new world champions on July 14, 2019. England won their maiden World Cup title after a win in the super over. England and New Zealand both ended up with the same number of runs in the super over but England were declared winners as they had scoed more boundaries in the match.

7. (b) India

India will be hosting the 13th edition of the men's Cricket World Cup. This will be the first time that the cricket tournament will be solely hosted by India.

8. (b) Meghalaya

Meghalaya is the first Indian state to have its own water conservation policy to ensure water conservation. The state policy outlines several measures like construction of check dams to conserve rainwater, setting up of rainwater harvesting systems, and proper ways to control improper use of groundwater.

9. (a) Oriental India Insurance Company

National Insurance Company Limited, United India Assurance Company Limited and Oriental India Insurance Company Limited soon to be merged into a single insurance entity. The move was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her maiden Budget 2019 speech.

10. (b) Bangladesh

Hussain Muhammad Ershad, Bangladesh’s former military dictator who seized power in a 1982 coup, died at age of 89. Ershad ruled Bangladesh from 1982 to 1990. Ershad joined the Pakistan Army in 1952 after finishing his training from the Officers Training School in Kohat, Pakistan.
