Krishna Kumari Kohli was on March 3, 2018 elected as the first-ever Hindu Dalit woman Senator in the upper house of the Muslim-dominated Pakistan. The 39-year-old Kohli was nominated for a minority Senate seat from the Sindh Assembly by the Bilawal Bhutto Zardari-led Pakistan People's Party (PPP) last month.

2. (b) China

China was the largest holder of US government securities in 2017 with holdings to the tune of $1.18 trillion, followed by Japan at $1.06 trillion. At the third position was Ireland whose exposure rose to $326.5 billion, followed by Cayman Islands at the fourth position with holding worth $269.9 billion and Brazil at the fifth position with holding worth $256.8 billion.

3. (d) Odisha

The Odisha government has launched a programme called Ama Gaon, Ama Vikas (Our Village, our development) to reach out to the people in rural areas and involve themselves in the developmental activities.

4. (a) NDPP-BIP

The NDPP-BJP alliance clinched 28 seats in the Assembly elections of north-east state – Nagaland. On the other hand, the Naga People's Front (NPF), which has been in power in the state since 2003, won 27 seats with a vote share of 39.1 per cent.

5. (d) Aruna Buddha Reddy

Aruna Buddha Reddy scripted history in February 2018 by winning a bronze medal at the Gymnastics World Cup that was held in Melbourne, Australia. Reddy became the first Indian gymnast to bag an individual medal at the tournament.

Guillermo del Toro’s fantasy film – ‘The Shape of Water’ won the ‘Best Picture’ award along with the ‘Best Director’ award at the 90th Academy Awards ceremony, held in Los Angeles, USA.

The Congress, which was the main opposition in both Tripura and Nagaland in the 2013 elections, failed to win a single seat in the two states this time. The vote share of the party also plummeted miserably, from 24.9 % to 2.1 % in Nagaland and from 36.5 % to 1.8% in Tripura.

Frances McDormand won the best actress award at the Oscar awards 2018 for the movie ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’. Other actresses who won nomination in the category included Sally Hawkins, Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan and Meryl Streep.

9. (d) Saudi Arabia

The kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted its first marathon for women on March 3, 2018 with an aim to boost female sports in its far-reaching modernisation drive. The run saw hundreds of women runners, many of them dressed in traditional Islamic attire, race in eastern Al-Ahsa region.

India has won the inaugural IBSF Snooker Team World Cup title. The Indian combination of Pankaj Advani and Manan Chandra defeated Pakistan in the best-of-five final played in Doha on March 4, 2018.
