1. (b) 1986

The Research Foundation for Microbial Diseases began the rollout of the world's first chickenpox vaccine in 1986 as the only varicella vaccine approved by the World Health Organisation. 

2. (b) Assam

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma conferred the state's highest civilian award "Assam Baibhav" upon eminent Indian industrialist Ratan Tata on February 16, 2022 at a function held in Taj Wellington Mews in Koloba, Mumbai.

3. (a) Gurugram 

IPS officer Kala Ramachandran has been appointed as the first woman police commissioner of Gurugram. She took charge of the position on February 15th from outgoing police chief KK Rao who has been transferred to the Centre for Police Training and Research at Bhondsi near Gurgaon. She is a 1994 batch IPS officer from the Haryana cadre.

4. (d) Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso junta leader Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba has been inaugurated as the new President of the country. He was sworn into the post on February 16, 2022. 

5. (d) Germany 

Indian Ministry for Consumer Affairs and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy signed the Work Plan 2022 on February 15, 2022 to significantly improve quality infrastructure, lower trade obstacles and increase product safety, and boost consumer protection.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the state government will launch a portal to invite suggestions for change of names of cities, towns & villages, which are contrary to Indian civilisation, culture and derogatory to any caste or community.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier was re-elected as Germany's president on February 13, 2022. He won the second term after a special assembly voted for the veteran politician. He won 77 percent of support.

The United States has temporarily relocated its embassy in Ukraine from Kyiv to the western city of Lviv. The US has also asked its citizens in Ukraine to leave the country within the next 24 to 48 hours amid growing concerns of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.

9. (a) Punjab Kings

Shikhar Dhawan, who was a part of Delhi Capitals previously, was bought by Punjab Kings for a deal worth Rs 8.25 crore at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Dhawan was released by Delhi Capitals despite having three productive seasons. He scored a total of 1726 runs for the franchise. 

10. (a) Keegan Petersen

South Africa's Keegan Petersen has been named ICC men's Player of the Month for January 2022. He beat his compatriot and under-19 star Dewald Brevis and Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain to win the award after his significant role in helping his team win the home test series against India. 

11. (c) Heather Knight

England skipper Heather Knight won the ICC Women's Player of the Month award, beating off competition from Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu and West Indies cricketer Deandra Dottin. 

12. (d) Ishan Kishan 

A total of 10 players were bought for Rs 10 crore or more in IPL Mega Auction 2022 with Ishan Kishan being the most expensive player with a solid Rs 15.25 crore deal from Mumbai Indians, followed by Deepak Chahar who received Rs 14 crore deal from his former team Chennai Super Kings.
