Nigerian Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala has took over the position of next Chief of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). The Former Nigerian Finance Minister will hold the position from March 1, 2021 till August 31, 2025.
2. (a) Dr. Ajay Mathur
The International Solar Alliance (ISA) elected Dr. Ajay Mathur as its new Director-General. Mathur replaces Upendra Tripathy who have been serving as ISA Director-General since its inception. The ISA was established in 2015.

The Rashtrapati Bhawan informed in a statement on February 16, 2021, that Kiran Bedi has been removed as Puducherry’s Lieutenant Governor. Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has been given an additional charge of executing the functions of Puducherry L-G, in addition to her own duties, until a new appointment is made.

Mario Draghi, the former European Central Bank chief, was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Italy. Draghi successfully convinced majorly all political parties of Italy to support his government. His main task will be to efficiently manage spending of more than 200 billion euros that Italy expects from the European Union fund for its recovery post COVID-19 pandemic.

The Uttarakhand government has decided to limit Kumbh Mela 2021 to just 30 days from earlier three months. This was informed by Chief Secretary Om Prakash on February 18, 2021. This time the Kumbh, which is one of the most sacred events for Hindus, will be held from April 1 to April 30.

The Arbor Day Foundation and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has recognised Hyderabad as the 2020 Tree City of the World. Hyderabad has been chosen for this recognition for its commitment to maintaining and growing the urban forest.
