Wimbledon on 29 April 2014 announced an increase of 10.8 percent (to 25 million Pound) in the total prize amount for 2014 Wimbledon. It is an increase of 2.4 million Pound over 2013. Apart from this, the All England Club on the same day announced an increase of 12.5 percent in prize money for each singles player in the first three rounds.
As per the declaration, the champion will receive a cheque of 1.76 million pound a 10 per cent (160000 pound) increase from 1.6 million pound in 2013.
Doubles prize money for The Championships, which runs from 23 June to 6 July, increases by 8.7 percent, while there is a 6.1 per cent increase for the mixed doubles.
This year overall, 17 match courts will be held at the All England Club, venue of The Championships. There will be three-week gap between Roland Garros and The Championships in 2015 that will run from 29 July to 12 July 2014.
