On December 30, the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport was inaugurated in Ayodhya by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The day therefore is of great significance. The city of Ayodhya is brimming with novel changes, with the inauguration of the international airport, the change of name of its railway station to the "Ayodhya Dham", and the upcoming event of Lord Ram Lalla's consecration on January 22.

The commercial services of the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport will be commencing from 6th January 2024. Once the commercial services begin, there are going to be tri-weekly flights to Ayodhya from Ahmedabad beginning on 11th January.

Plans to expand

 

Yes, as per the civil aviation minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, there do exist plans for the expansion of the airport. The second phase of the Ayodhya airport will be covering over 50,000 sq m.
