Chhattisgarh is a new state but with a prehistoric civilization, which can be experienced by visiting the past remains in the state. Let us have a look on some ancient caves of Chhattisgarh.
KAILASH GUFA
Masked deep in the forest near the Tiratgarh waterfalls, this subversive cave, about 40 kilometers from Jagdalpur, has the most extravagant structures of stalactites (the pillars of limestone hanging down from roof) and stalagmites (the pillars rising up from ground). It is deep in the hill, 200 m long, 35 m wide and 55 m deep.
KUTUMSAR CAVE (KANGER VALLEY NATIONAL PARK)
Admittance to this sub-terranean cave near Tiratgarh waterfalls, about 38 kilometers from Jagdalpur, is by a slight spiral staircase that slides down about 40 feet. The stalagmites and stalactites come alive as magic creations of master sculptor.
The hilly topography and forests of virgin Kanger Valley National Park, in the epicenter of tribal Bastar district, domicile numerous ancient caves. The Caves are clogged during monsoons and for some time after that. They generally open around the fest of Bastar Lokotsav.
DANDAK CAVES
This huge, airy, chilly cavern is placed in a hillock. You have to soar about 500 steps to go in the Cave. At the doorway, is an astonishing rock structure that gives the upshot of a carving, so comprehensive and proportioned is it. Within, stalactites suspend down in massive halls, much similar to chandeliers in a regal palace.
