    List of Awards and Honours in India

    The Awards and Honours in India given to individuals or sometime to the organisation for a variety of services to the Republic of India. There are mainly four types of awards given in India i.e. Civilian awards, Military Awards, Leadership awards, Literature awards and Particular awards like sports, police, bravery etc. Here, we are given the list of Awards and Honours in India 2018 for the aspirants of different competitive examination which can be used as revision capsule.

    Civilian Awards & Winners (Bharat Ratna & Padma Awards) 2018

    Bharat Ratna (2015)

    1. Madan Mohan Malaviya

    He was the founder of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha (1906) and Banaras Hindu University and served as the university's vice-chancellor from 1919 till 1938. He was the President of Indian National Congress for four terms and was the Chairman of Hindustan Times from 1924 to 1946.

    2. Atal Bihari Vajpayee

    He was elected nine times to the Lok Sabha, twice to the Rajya Sabha and served as the Prime Minister of India for three terms; 1996, 1998, 1999–2004. He was Minister of External Affairs during 1977–79 and was awarded the "Best Parliamentarian" in 1994.

    Padma Vibhushan

    1. Illaiyaraja

    He is an Indian film composer who works in the Indian Film Industry, predominantly in the Tamil cinema. He has composed over 7000 songs and over 1000 film scores.

    2. Ghulam Mustafa Khan

    He is an Indian classical musician in the Hindustani classical music tradition from the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991, followed by Padma Bhusan in 2006 and Padma Vibhushan in 2018.

    3. P. Parameswaran

    He is a right-wing Hindutva thinker and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue from Kerala, India.

    Padma Bhushan

    1. Pankaj Advani

    He is a 19-time World Champion English billiards and snooker player from India. In recognition of his achievements, the Government of India has bestowed several awards: the Arjuna Award in 2004, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2006, Padma Shri in 2009 and Padma Bhushan in 2018.

    2. Philipose Mar Chrysostom

    He is the emeritus Metropolitan of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church and he has been a bishop for 65 years.

    3. Mahendra Singh Dhoni

    He is an Indian international cricketer who captained the Indian national team in limited-overs formats from 2007 to 2016 and in Test cricket from 2008 to 2014. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest finishers in limited-overs cricket. He is also regarded as one of the best wicket-keepers in world cricket and is known to have very fast hands.

    4. Alexander Kadakin (Foreigner/Posthumous)

    He was a Russian diplomat and the Russian Ambassador to India from 2009 until his death in 2017.

    5. R. Nagaswamy

    He is an Indian historian, archaeologist and epigraphist who is known for his work on temple inscriptions and art history of Tamil Nadu. He served as the founder-Director of the Tamil Nadu Archaeology Department.

    6. Ved Prakash Nanda (Overseas Citizen of India)

    He is the founding director and director emeritus of the International Legal Studies Program; director of the Ved Nanda Centre for International and Comparative Law; and was previously a United States Delegate to the World Federation of the United Nations.

    7. Laxman Pai

    He is an Indian artist and painter. He is a former principal of the Goa College of Art from 1977 to 1987.

    8. Arvind Parikh

    He is a Indian classical sitar player. The senior most and devoted disciple of Ustad Vilayat Khan, the distinguished sitar player is a gifted composer, a dedicated guru, an erudite musicologist and an efficient organiser.

    9. Sharda Sinha

    She is a folk-singer from Bihar, India who sings in Maithili, Bhojpuri and Magahi languages.

    Padma Shri

    1. Abhay and Rani Bang

    They are Indian social activists, and researchers working in the field of community health in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, India.

    2. Damodar Ganesh Bapat

    He is an Indian social worker, notable for treatment and service of leprosy patients at Bhartiya Kushta Nivarak Sangh in Janjgir–Champa district for the past four-and-a half decades.

    3. Prafulla Govinda Baruah

    He is the founder of The Assam Tribune, a group of newspapers and an enterprising person in Dibrugarh, first conceived the idea of launching English daily.

    4. Mohan Swaroop Bhatia

    He has won the Award for his work on preserving the folk culture of Vraja.

    5. Sudhanshu Biswas

    He is 99-year-old freedom fighter who serves poor, runs school and orphanages and set up free school for poor.

    6. Saikhom Mirabai Chanu

    She is an Indian weightlifter who won the World Championships and multiple medals at the Commonwealth Games.

    7. Pandit Shyamlal Chaturvedi

    He is a novelist, poet and journalist.

    8. Jose Ma Joey Concepcion III (Foreigner)

    He is Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and ASEAN Business Advisory Council Philippines.

    9. Langpoklakpam Subadani Devi

    He has written 14 books for adults and 17 adventure novels for children.

    68. Panatawane Gangadhar Vithobaji

    He is one of the pioneers of Dalit literary movement in Maharashtra.

    69. Romulus Whitaker

    He is an Indian herpetologist, wildlife conservationist and founder of the Madras Snake Park, The Andaman and Nicobar Environment Trust (ANET), and the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust. In 2008, Whitaker was selected as an Associate Laureate in the 2008 Rolex Awards for Enterprise, for his efforts to create a network of rainforest research stations throughout India.

    70. Baba Yogendra

    He is a senior member of RSS and brought the entire artist fraternity on single stage with help of Sanskar Bharati Sanstha.

    71. A Zakia

    She is prominent literati of Mizoram and the first among the Mara tribe to receive the award. She is awarded for the contributions and achievements for the upliftment of the Mara Literature and Journalism were outstanding among the Maras.
