A lake is an area of variable size filled with water, localized in a basin, which is surrounded by land, apart from any river or other outlet that serves to feed or drain the lake. It can be classified on the basis of formation and on the quality of the water (freshwater or saltwater).
Uttar Pradesh is blessed by nature. This state comprises of the Ganga-Yamuna Doab, the Ghaghra plains, the Ganga plains and the Terai. The lakes of the Uttar Pradesh blessed with amazing landscapes and this is the only reason a large variety of migratory birds visit around the lakes of the state at specific times of the year. Lakes are playing very important role in preventing flood by regulating the flow of the river. During dry seasons, a lake helps to maintain an even flow of the river.
