The third phase of the Lok Sabha elections have started. The third phase will be holding elections in a total of 93 constituencies spread across 10 states along with one Union Territory. The successful voting in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections will mean the completion of more than half of the total seats for the Lok Sabha. The total seats in this particular phase are 93.
It is important to note that in the year 2019, the Bhartiya Janata Party was able to secure a total of 72 seats out of the total 94.
List of states and Union Territories contesting in Phase 3 Lok Sabha elections:
As stated above, the voting for Phase 3 of Lok Sabha elections of 2024 will take place for 93 seats in 10 states and 1 Union Territory.
The states are:
Assam (4 seats)
Bihar (5 seats)
Chhattisgarh (7 seats)
Goa (2 seats)
Gujarat (26 seats)
Karnataka (14 seats)
Madhya Pradesh (8 seats)
Maharashtra (11 seats)
Uttar Pradesh (10 seats)
West Bengal (4 seats)
Dadra and Nagar Haveli (1 seat)
Daman and Diu (1 seat)
Around 1,331 candidates are contesting the elections in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections this year. The maximum candidates are from the Bhartiya Janata Party with a total of 81 candidates. The Congress Party has the second highest number of candidates, with a total of 67 participating in the elections this time.
In the elections held five years ago, the BJP secured a whopping 72 seats out of the total 94 seats. In the elections of 2019, the Shiv Sena and the Congress party won 4 seats each. The Nationalist Congress party and the Janata Dal (United) won 3 seats each. The Trinamool Congress and the Samajwadi Party won 2 seats each. Additionally, the Lok Janshakti Party won 1 seat in the Lok Sabha elections of 2019. The rest of the two seats were secured by Independents.
The Phase 3 Lok Sabha polls holds many key candidates from BJP namely Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Jagadish Settar, Amit Shah, Purushottam Rupala, Jyotiraditya Scindia, BY Raghavendra, and more.
The next phase of the Lok Sabha elections will be held on May 13. June 4 is the date selected for the counting of votes.
