    61,556,074 people out of the total population of Maharashtra live in rural areas in which the number of males is 61,556,074 and females are 50,818,259. In rural areas, the female sex ratio was 952 females per 1000 males. The total number of children between 0-6 years living in rural areas was 7,688,954. Average literacy rate in rural areas was 77.01%.
