The United States boasts a stunning array of national parks, each of which offers a unique experience. These parks have diverse ecosystems and recreational opportunities. These protected areas are overseen by the National Park Service, which works to conserve the natural and historical wonders within them. As of 2024, there are 63 national parks scattered across the country, that attract adventurers and nature enthusiasts alike.
The spirit of preservation runs deep in the United States, evident in its national parks system. Yellowstone National Park, established in 1872, holds the distinction of being the first national park not just in the U.S. but possibly the entire world. Since then, the country has diligently expanded its protected areas.
The Library of Congress mentions: “On March 1, President Grant signed the bill into law, establishing the Yellowstone region as a public park and setting a major conservation precedent. The Nation had its first national park; an area of exceptional beauty was set aside for the enjoyment of generations to come, and a tradition of preserving similar areas was established.”
