    UNESCO list of Creative Cities Network

    The 64 cities from 44 countries have been designated as UNESCO Creative Cities on the basis of Crafts and Folk Arts, Media Arts, Film, Design, Gastronomy, Literature and Music. The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) was created in 2004 to promote cooperation with and among cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development. 

    Recently, Chennai has been included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. This is the third Indian city to be included in this list after Jaipur (Craft and Folk Arts) and Varanasi (Music).
