Swarm drones are used across multiple fields like military operations, observation, search and rescue operations, agriculture, and leisure.

What Are Swarm Drones?

Swarm drones serve as a crowd, often guided by advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence (AI) that enable them to maintain their formations, navigate around obstacles without collisions, and adapt to ambient changes without regular human input. Each drone within the swarm of drones has such sensors as accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers, cameras, LiDAR, or ultrasonic sensors to navigate around and gather data on its own.

The military of Sweden is also considering swarm control software to manage up to 100 drones at the same time in hostile environments.

The drones aimed to infiltrate Indian airspace, target military installations such as the Bhatinda military base, and create widespread disruption. 

Pakistan also fired heavy-calibre weapons along the Line of Control (LoC) simultaneously. Indian air defence systems, employing kinetic and non-kinetic methods including anti-missile systems like L70, ZU-23, Schilka, and Akash, successfully intercepted and neutralized over 50 of these drones, preventing any significant damage or casualties. India also launched counter-drone strikes targeting Pakistani air defence radars, successfully destroying at least one radar system, which critically impairs Pakistan’s air defence capabilities.
