Samsung announced Scholarships for 544 meritorious students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Schools who have qualified for admissions to the Indian Institute of Technology and the National Institute of Technology. The company in a statement announced that this year the Samsung Star Scholar programme has granted 150 scholarships to new applicants from JNVs from which 87 will begin their studies across the different IITs and 63 in NIts across the country.
Number of Students Renewed Scholarships
Along with this scholarships have also been renewed for the next year for the existing 394 students. The students under the renewed recipients of the scholarships include 139 second-year students, 171 third-year students, 82 fourth-year students and two fifth-year students.
Scholarships are offered for up to 2 Lakhs as part of the Samsung Star Scholar programme bearing the expenses related to tuition, examinations, hustle and mess for a while academic year and it will be renewed every year for up to five years supporting the financially lesser privileged students from the schools.
Samsung India, Vice President and Head, Corporate Citizenship, Partha Ghosh while speaking about the scholarship programme stated that the Star Scholar program has benefited roughly 800 students from JNV and as the programme has entered its sixth year the company is excited to have supported the talented students.
Selection of Students
The selection of the first-year students is based on the All India Rank in JEE Main exams while the renewal of the scholarship will be based on the semester Grade point Average or the Cumulative Grade Point Average rating which has to be 5 and above.
