Reduction in Number of Questions

As per reports, CBSE is all set to curtail the number of questions asked in the examination for all major subjects starting next year. This change has been proposed to ensure that students don’t find the paper to be too lengthy to be completed in the stipulated time of 3 hours. For instance, students will now have to answer or solve only 12 questions instead of 19 questions which are asked as per current examination pattern.

More Internal Choices

Even after the reduction in the total number of questions being asked in the exam paper, CBSE also plans to provide more internal choices to the students from the given questions. Simply put, students will not have internal choices, even within the 12 to 15 questions asked in the exam,  of answer 10 to 12 questions, depending on the subject.

Increase in Number of Objective Type Questions

As per the report, CBSE also plans to increase the overall number of objective type questions asked in the paper as well. Objective Type Questions, which were essentially 1 mark questions, are all set to be increased in the CBSE papers from next year. As per the CBSE notification titled “Details of internal and external assessment in the year 2019-20”, CBSE plans to keep objective type one mark questions to 10-12% in all exam papers.

Practical Exams & Internal Assessment for All Subjects

With an aim to curb rote learning, CBSE is all set to introduce internal assessment for all subjects for Class 10 and Class 12 Board exams. The practical exams for CBSE Boards 2020 session will amount to 30 to 70 marks depending upon the subject. Internal Assessment will amount to 20 marks in total.
