COVID-19 in Schools: As per the updates, in Telangana’s Sangareddy district, after 46 students were tested positive on Monday, another 27 have been tested positive yesterday. Apart from that, 27 students of a private school in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur district have also tested positive. The rest of the students were found to be asymptomatic and have been sent for home isolation. To avoid any further spread, the school has been closed for one week as per the COVID-19 protocols for disinfection. This is the second incident within one week where a large number of students studying in residential schools tested positive.
COVID-19 Case in Telangana Schools
Sangareddy District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) informed that "On November 24 this year, a girl was suffering from fever and she was sent home but on November 26 she tested positive for COVID-19. Following this, yesterday, we started testing all the students in the hostel. Since yesterday, a total of 300 students have undergone COVID-19 tests out of which 27 have tested positive for the infection. Testing of other students will be continued." There are about 1,000 students out of which tests were conducted on 275 students.
COVID-19 Case in Tamil Nadu Schools
In a similar incident in Tamil Nadu, 27 students of a private school in Dharapauram Tiruppur district were found to be COVID-19 positive on Thursday. They were tested after two class 10 students of a school were admitted to the hospital with COVID like symptoms. The State Health Department sent 374 swab samples out of which 27 tested positive.
Students were admitted to the hospital and then shifted to a Government hospital.
Tamil Nadu Colleges Postpone Semester Exam For All Students
The Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi informed that the semester exams for all engineering, science, arts and polytechnics have been postponed. All the exams will be held after 20th January 2022 to give students more time to prepare for offline exams. Also, the students were protesting demanding that the semester exams should be conducted online. While making the announcement, the minister pointed out the government granted two-month time to the students to prepare themselves.
