Defence Institute of Advanced Technology has been awarded the first prize in the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2020. Smart India Hackathon is a national level competition conducted for a 36 hour non-stop digital product building for software edition organised jointly by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the All Indian Council for Technical Education.
The winning Defence Institute of Advanced Technology team led by Dr Sunita Dhalve was awarded the first prize of Rs. 1 Lakh for solving problem statement MS331 in the Software Category posted by the Madhya Pradesh state government.
The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology is a deemed university under the Ministry's Department of Defence Research and Development. G Sateech Reddy, Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development congratulated the DIAT Team on winning the award for the consecutive second time.
In a statement released by the Defence Ministry, it has been stated that DIAT team of six members have provided a solution titled ‘DRISHTI’ to recognise face, expression and gesture using artificial intelligence.

The finale for the Software Edition was conducted between August 1 and 3, 2020 at Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology in Greater Noida.
