With the online classes set to begin from August 10, 2020, onwards, the Delhi University has approved the syllabus for four courses and suggested Hindi translations for the students wherever possible. A meeting was conducted by the Oversight Committee on Syllabus where they were approved. The teachers of the university have however stated that the syllabus for the four courses which are Political Science, Sociology, History, and English are yet to be finalized. The teachers have decreased their apprehensions over how they will be able to start with the classes for the students amidst the lockdown.
Hindi translations required
Maharaj Pandit, Chairman of the Oversight Committee on Syllabi said that the general recommendations given to the department are that Hindi text should be made available for the subjects and wherever possible the department should engage in getting translations in Hindi so that it is more accessible.
Disputes had erupted last year over the syllabus of these subjects with a right-wing teacher outfit accusing that the curriculum was pro-Left. The syllabus of the four courses for the first semester has been referred back by the executive council to the departments following which a revised syllabus was submitted to the oversight committee which approved the came.
Delhi University launches 'OneDU' initiative
Delhi University has launched an initiative ‘One DU’ which has integrated all the e-learning resources offered by the university on a single platform. The platform will promote online education across the teaching departments, colleges, centers, and other affiliated bodies. A detailed circular was released by the university confirming the launch of the One DU Programme which also highlighted the importance, aims, objectives keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic.
