With the upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, many students and parents may be wondering if schools and colleges will stay open or not. The elections will be held on February 5, with results announced on February 8. Schools and colleges will remain closed on Election Day, but essential services, including hospital services, will continue to operate as usual. Essential pharmacy and grocery shops will stay open. Public transport and metro services will also run on regular hours to help voters reach polling stations.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has confirmed that all central government offices and industrial establishments in Delhi will be closed on election day, so employees can vote.
The Haryana govrenment has declared a paid holiday on February 5 for public office workers, school and college staff, and employees of boards and corporations to take part in Delhi Assembly Elections. This also applies to workers in factories, shop, and private business in Haryana who are registered voters in Delhi, allowing them to vote.
Also, many schools and colleges are used as polling stations, so they will remain closed on election day. In some cases, schools and colleges that are used as polling booths may also be closed the day before the election to prepare for the event. For example, the Jamia Millia Islamia school section will be closed on both February 4 and 5 for the Delhi elections.

Additionally, the District Election Officer for South West Delhi has issued a notice to organize a ‘Prabhat Rally’ for students in schools in their area. The rally will be held on February 3 at 9 am.
