DU Teacher's Promotion: As per the revision in the 2018 Act governing the University Grants Commission hiring teachers, teachers from Delhi University can now be promoted. Teachers are to apply for promotion under the 2010 guidelines if not granted one under the 2018 Act.
According to the notification issued on the official website, teachers who have received their PhD after 2021 will also fall under the 2018 category. Promotion from Assistant Professor to Levels 11 and 12 and Associate Professor to Level 13 were not required to have a PhD under the 2010 UGC guidelines. Teachers were promoted based on papers published, passing the UGC NET exams, and examining their point tables.

As per the 2018 Act, PhD is now a mandatory requirement to become an associate professor. The 2010 regulations applied until 2021 as instructors could seek promotions until then. The same was however removed from 2022 onwards.
Teachers who were eligible for promotion after this were unable to apply as they did not finish their PhD and hence applied after 2022 and were promoted although they did not receive benefits of enhanced pay for a period of one or two years.
As per the new rule, the UGC has now granted teachers a chance until December 2024 in response to the petitions filed. After accepting a promotion, teachers may reapply as of the day they become eligible. Teachers can collect the unpaid due and benefits liabilities.
Teachers eligible as per the 2010 standards for promotion are to apply or submit their applications once again. These teachers can apply under the CAS or Career Advancement Scheme.
