Jamia Hamdard will be conferring its Honorary Doctorate to Dr. Frank F Islam. The Honorary Doctorate for Science by Jamia Hamdard University will be conferred on Dr. Islam at a special convocation to be held on October 15, 2019.
Dr. Frank F Islam is an investor, philanthropist, information technology entrepreneur, civic leader, and writer who also heads the FI Investment Group. He was the founder and CEO of the QSS Group and has also served on various boards and advisory councils which include the Board of Trustees of the John F Kennedy Centre for Performing Arts, Board of Directors at Strathmore Centre for the Arts, Ford’s Theatre Society Board of Trustees and the Kennedy Centre for International Committee on the Arts.
Dr. Frank Islam also serves on different boards and councils at numerous universities which include the John Hopkins University, American University, and George Mason University.
Dr. Frank F Islam is not the first to be conferee with an Honorary Doctorate by the Jamia Hamdard University. Other prominent figures who have been conferred with this honour include NR Narayana Murthy Co-founder of Infosys, Bharat Ratna CNR Rao, and former Delhi Chief Minister Late Mrs. Sheila Dikshit.
Jamia Hamdard was inaugurated by former Prime Minister of India, late Rajiv Gandhi on August 1, 1989. The university was recently recommended by the Empowered Committee which was appointed by the Government of India to be recognized as an Institution of Eminence. The university was also placed 5th among the 500 privately-funded universities of India.
