Singapore-based Skillizen Olympiad Foundation is organizing an International Life Skills Olympiad (ILSO) for school students from Classes 3 to 12. The International Life Skills Olympiad will be conducted on 14th and 15th December 2019. Students interested can register at the official website of Skillizen Olympiad Foundation - lifeskillsolympiad.org. As per reports, students from more than 2000 schools from all over the world have already registered for the first online Olympiad. The last day to register for ILSO is 30th November 2019.
ILSO is the world’s first-ever Olympiad on Critical Life Skills tests that is meant to assess and help young children to enhance their Life Skills Aptitude. The 4 winners of the International Life Skills Olympiad will be awarded a ticket each to visit the prestigious Harvard University in the United States of America. This has caused a buzz of excitement among the participants. In addition, there are also many grand prizes for the participants.
Mr. Sidharth Tripathy, Chief Convener of ILSO, believes that it is important to ensure that children, during the prime stages of their brain development, that is b 6 and 16 years of age, are equipped with basic life skills. He said that this will enable the students to face the real-world challenges beyond school. Thus integration of Life Skills curriculum in the education of the children at this age is a logical thing to do.
Schools from the Southern &and Western states of India account for a higher number of registrations for ILSO within India. On the other hand, Africa and the Middle East are the leading regions for participation in ILSO internationally. ILSO presently is the world's most global assessment test of any kind at the school level on the basis of the number of participating countries.
Based on the pioneering research on Life Skills done at Harvard University in 2011 by the founder of ‘Skillizen’, Life Skills Olympiad has been developed. Skillizen, over the years, has come to be known as the world’s leading organization preparing young children for their roles in the real world beyond school. It provides the world’s first criterion-referenced and evidence-based Critical Life Skills Curriculum for young children of the age group 6-16. The curriculum can be accessed by both online as well as offline mode.
