J&K Degree College Reopening from 1st Feb: As per the latest update, the Jammu and Kashmir Administration has confirmed that degree colleges in the Union Territory will reopen from 1st February 2021 onward. The reopening post the winter vacation will be done while adhering to all COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government. Going by the official announcement, winter vacation for Colleges falling under the summer zones of Jammu will end on 31st January with institutions resuming regular classes from 1st February. On the other hand, winter vacation for colleges in Kashmir and winter zones of Jammu will remain closed until 14th February and classes in regular classes in institutions in those areas will be held from 15th February 2021 onwards.

 

Reopening as per COVID-19 Guidelines

The official announcement about Degree College reopening in the region has also confirmed that the reopening process will have to be carried out in complete compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines. With the pandemic threat still quite serious, College administrators have been asked to ensure that social distancing guidelines are honours and staggered timetable is prepared to avoid crowding of students on campus. Moreover, all students, teaching and non-teaching staff members have been advised to wear masks compulsory while they are on campus.

School Reopening in Jammu

Apart from Degree Colleges reopening, Schools for Class 9 to 12 students are also slated to reopen from 1st February 2021 in the Jammu Region. According to an official order issued by Education Department Secretary BK Singh, all government educational institutions including recognised private schools have been asked to resume regular classes in a staggered manner to ensure academic activities are held seamlessly. The order further specified that in the case of elementary classes, teachers will attend schools from February 1 while students will physically attend classes from February 8 onwards. The order further reads that the Kashmir division and winter zone areas of the Jammu division will reopen as per their respective schedule.
