JNU Students’ Union Election 2019: JNUSU Election 2019 has been formally concluded with the completion of the counting of votes by late evening on Sunday – 8th September 2019. The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) election committee completed the counting of votes for the Students’ Union Polls by 9 PM. As per the initial trends, Left Unity is all set to sweep JNUSU Polls with its candidates leading for all the key posts.
Stay on JNUSU Poll Results by HC
Currently, the declaration of JNUSU Polls has been stayed by the Delhi High Court due to pending petitions. Two students from the University had approached Delhi High Court alleging that Lyngdoh Committee Rules were being flouted in the conduct of JNU Students’ Union Polls. Following this, Delhi High Court has put a stay on the declaration of JNUSU Result 2019 until the next date of hearing i.e. 17th September 2019. With the stay on result publication in place, the Election Committee of JNU which is organizing the Students’ Union Polls, is expected to submit the results to the University’s Dean of Students in a sealed envelope today.
Trends Withheld for Last Votes
During the counting of Votes, the JNU Election Committee decided to provide trends which suggested a clear lead for Left Unity Candidates for the Central Panel and councillors of schools positions. However, JNUSU EC has withheld, the last 150 votes for the Central Panel and 50 votes of councillors of schools to ensure that the Court’s order is not violated.
Left Unity Ahead
As per the trends, candidates of Left Unity Alliance were leading on all the central posts for JNUSU Polls. Left Unity, which comprises of candidates from the All India Students' Association (AISA), Students' Federation of India (SFI), Democratic Students' Federation (DSF) and All India Students’ Federation (AISF); seemed to be leading on all the four key positions for Central Panel. The second rank on most of the positions were secured by RSS affiliated ABVP candidates.
