KVS is an autonomous body that is run by the Central Government. Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) monitors its functions throughout the country. There are 1200+ KVs in India and some are located in foreign countries too. The KVs follow the CBSE pattern.
The KVs are set up specially for the employees of the central government. But, apart from them, even civilians can enroll their kids in the school. The school is known for its quality education and therefore people want their children to get admitted to the KVs. Some seats are also reserved for the children of EWS category.
