The Kerala Model of Literacy taken up by Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority is most likely to be used across the country with the National Literacy Mission showing an interest in the same. The National Literacy Mission has invited the state authority to share its experience during the International Literacy Day Celebration in New Delhi on Adult Education.
In a press release, the Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority stated that the National Literacy Mission has expressed an interest in the educational model followed by the state and have invited the authorities to share the success stories on September 7, 2019, on the occasion of the Literacy Day Celebration.
A letter which was sent by the Ministry of Human Resource Development to P S Sreekala, Kerala State Literacy Mission Director stated said that as the State Literacy Mission Authority (SLMA) has shown an extraordinary work in removing illiteracy in the state, the authorities have been requested to share their experience in promoting Adult Education. The letter has also said that an exhibition can also be displayed by showcasing the success stories of the SLAM in order to motivate and orient the audience present.
The recently conducted NITI Aayod had also earlier directed the National Literacy Mission to follow the Kerala Model of Literacy Missions. A special documentary will also be shown during the International Literacy Day celebration in New Delhi for which a special team from the National Film Development Corporation has reached the state to help in making the documentary.
Karthyayani Amma who was the oldest candidate to appear for the Aksharalaksham programme of the Literacy Mission and secured 98 out of 100 will be among the several others who will be a part of the documentary.
