Kerala Schools, Colleges Closed: As per the latest update, Kerala Rain Alert has been sounded across the state for tomorrow, with heavy to very heavy rain expected to hit coastal areas. In the light of this development, all schools, colleges and other educational institutions have been ordered to remain closed for 2nd August 2022. Even today, schools and educational institutions in some parts of Kerala were closed down in the light of IMD’s rain alert sounded earlier on. With incessant rain lashing parts of Kerala, the local administration of 7 districts have decided to extend this further for Tuesday as well.

Schools, Colleges to be Closed on 7 Districts
Going by the official update shared by the Kerala State Government, educational institutions have been ordered to remain closed in a total of 7 districts. The latest order confirm that schools and colleges will remain closed in Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki, Alappuzha, Kollam and Kottayam on 2nd August 2022. Even today i.e., 1st August, educational institutions were ordered to remain closed in Pathanamthitta and Kollam districts. School Holiday has been declared for all government, private and aided schools in these districts, keeping safety of the students in mind.

11 Districts on Rain Alert in Kerala
The latest report from Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed that the Department has issued a Rain alert for a total of 11 district of Kerala. IMD has issued Red Alert for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts. On the other hand, Orange Alert has been sounded in Thrissur and Malappuram districts while all other districts remain under Yellow Alert. In the wake of Rain Alert Sounded in the Weather Department, Kerala CMO’s office has advised people not to venture too close to rivers, water bodies, streams, etc. Kerala Government has also asked citizens to stay updated with the weather updates and follow all warning and guidelines being issued by Disaster Management Authority.
