Maharashtra state education department has brought in relaxation in the minimum age for the admissions for students from Nursery to class 1 for the 2022-21 academic year. According to an official statement released, the cutoff date for the minimum age for school admissions as per the notification released in September 2020 is December 31, 2021.
Due to the earlier notification students born in October, November and December faced issues when securing admission in the schools, and taking this into consideration the state education department changed the minimum age criteria for the admissions from 2022-21 onwards.
Minimum Age limit for admissions from Nursery to class 1
As per the new rule, students born between October 1, 2018, and December 1, 2019, who have completed the minimum age of 3 years as of December 21, 2022, can take admission to nursery schools. The students born between October 1, 2017, and December 31, 2018, who have completed the minimum age of four years as of December 31m 2022 can take admissions to Junior KG (Kindergarten). Children born between October 1, 2016, and December 31, 2017, who have completed the minimum age of five years as of December 31, 2022, will be able to secure admission to Senior KG. The children born between October 1, 2015, to December 31, 2016, who have completed the minimum age of six years as of December 31, 2022, will be eligible for admissions to class 1.
As per the circular issued, the age limit can also be flexible for pre-primary admissions and none of the schools will be allowed to deny admission to the children mentioning the age issue. The circular also stated that there will be no upper limit on deciding for the admissions as the same will be kept flexible for the students.
