Class 12 student Kaamya Karthikeyan of Mumbai's Navy Children School achieved history by becoming the world's youngest woman to climb the seven highest peaks on seven continents.
The 17-year-old explorer has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mount Elbrus in Europe, Mount Kosciuszko in Australia, Mount Aconcagua in South America, Mount Denali in North America, Mount Everest in Asia, and finished the current ascent in Antarctica.
Conquering Seven Summits in Seven Continents
According to the Indian Navy, the young Everester completed the Seven Summits Challenge on December 24 at 1720 hours Chilean Standard Time by reaching the peak of Mount Vincent, Antarctica, together with her father, Cdr S Karthikeyan.
Indian Navy Congratulates Kaamya
On its official X handle, @SpokespersonNavy announced, “Kaamya Karthikeyan, a Class XII student from @IN_NCS Mumbai, makes history as the youngest female in the world to climb the seven highest peaks across seven continents.”
The Indian Navy also extended its congratulations to Kaamya and her father for achieving this remarkable feat of conquering the highest peaks of each continent.
Kaamya Karthikeyan: Breaking Barriers & Reaching New Heights
Kaamya Karthikeyan is a student of Mumbai's Navy Children School. The school congratulated the 17-year-old, posting, "Breaking barriers and reaching new heights! Kaamya Karthikeyan, Class XII, Navy Children School, Mumbai, becomes the youngest female in the world to conquer the Seven Summits—the highest peaks on all seven continents! A moment of immense pride for NCS Mumbai!"
Started Hiking From the Age of 7
When Kaamya Karthikeyan climbed Mount Everest, she was sixteen years old. She claimed that she went on her first hike in Uttarakhand at the age of seven.
