Mumbai University has asked its affiliated colleges to conduct backlog examinations for students of 1st and 2nd year by 30th November. Get Complete Details Here.

Mumbai University Exams 2020: The University of Mumbai has asked all its affiliated colleges to conduct backlog exams for 2019-20 session for 1st and 2nd Year students by 30th November 2020. Students had been eagerly waiting for this decision as the same was put on hold since June. While the 1st and 2nd year students were promoted to the higher class, the colleges were asked to conduct backlog exams within 120 days of resuming of physical classes.

Conduct of 1st and 2nd Year Backlog Exams

As per the decision taken by the University, the backlog exams for the 1st and 2nd year students will now be conducted in the online mode. The Mumbai University backlog exams will be conducted in college-level Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) format in a manner similar to the final year exams. A committee appointed by the state in June had earlier recommended that the exams be conducted physically soon after the colleges re-open.

However, with the ongoing pandemic and no clarity on when the state will allow the re-opening of colleges, the University is in favour of completing the exams within the 120 day period which will allow the students, colleges and the varsity to focus on the regular semester-end examinations. The University has also said that colleges which had completed backlog exams before 23rd March 2020 are not required to conduct them again.

Official Statement

An official from the Mumbai University was quoted saying that the first priority in the last few months was to conduct exams for the graduating batch. With the exams now being completed and many important results announced, the varsity plans on completing the backlog exams soon, said the official adding that these exams are conducted in college level itself. He also said that once the backlog exams are conducted the focus will be on the semester-end exam for the year post Diwali. The colleges will be on break for Diwali from 12th to 18th November 2020.
