Nagpur Schools Closed: Schools in Nagpur District will be closed for primary class students i.e. Class 1 to 8 from today onwards, as per the announcement made by Maharashtra Minister Nitin Raut. While schools have been closed for offline / physical classes, online classes will resume to avoid any academic loss for students.

Nagpur Schools Closed: Schools in Nagpur District will be closed for primary class students i.e. Class 1 to 8 from today onwards, as per the announcement made by Maharashtra Minister Nitin Raut. While schools have been closed for offline / physical classes, online classes will resume avoiding any academic loss for students. The decision of school closures in Nagpur city and some adjoining areas was formally announced by Mr Nitin Raut, who is also Nagpur district guardian minister. On Wednesday – 5th January, Nagpur district recorded 404 new coronavirus cases, up from 196 a day ago, officials said. There are now 1,076 active cases in the district,

Decision After Review Meeting with Local Administration

The decision to close down primary schools in Maharashtra’s Nagpur was taken at a high-level meeting held on 5th January 2022. The meeting was attended by officials from local civic agency and district administration, and a thorough review of the prevailing situation was held. The local administration also assessed the measures put in place so far and their preparedness to tackle the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the district. Following this discussion, it was decided to close down schools for primary class students to ensure their safety.

For now, the district administration has not announced the period for which Class 1 to 8 schools have been closed down in Nagpur and surrounding areas. However, he mentioned that the decision has been taken on lines of Pune where schools for Classes 1 to 8 will remain shut till January 30.

In another similar measure to curb spread of the pandemic, all staff members of Government and Private Offices in Nagpur have been asked to produce RT-PCR negative reports to attend office. This move is likely to help identify clusters and assist administration in containing their spread.
