NEET PG counselling 2026 seat matrix verification by participating institutions will begin tomorrow, October 10. Participating institutions are required to verify the category-wise seats and other details before the deadline and the commencement of the registration process for round 1 of counselling.

NEET PG Seat Matrix 2026: The much-awaited NEET PG counselling process is set to commence tomorrow, October 10, 2026, with the verification of the tentative seat matrix for round 1 of counselling. According to the schedule, the verification process is set to conclude on October 12, 2026, right on time for the commencement of the NEET PG round 1 registration process.

Candidates must note that the seat matrix for NEET PG counselling has already been issued by the NMC. Participating institutes are required to verify the number of seats under each category and submit any grievances before the commencement of the counselling registration process. 

Participating institutions are required to verify the college code, college name, total number of seats, intake under each category and the courses offered.

Candidates participating in the first round of NEET PG counselling 2026 must check the schedule for the same and submit the applications as per the deadline.

What is Verification of Tentative Seat Matrix?

Verification of the tentative seat matrix by participating institutes means that colleges offering Medical PG seats must cross-check and confirm the draft list of available admission seats provided by the NMC before the official registration and choice-filling process begins. 

Colleges must review the seats, check for discrepancies, report errors and finalise the number of seats offered for PG admissions. Students will be using this seat matrix as a guide when entering their choices for each counselling round. After each round, reporting and admission are conducted, and the seat matrix will be updated with the number of seats available after admissions for the next round. Candidates participating in subsequent counselling rounds need to first check for the availability of seats in the college of their choice before entering the choices. The choices entered must be done in the order of preference for allotment. . 

NEET PG Counselling 2026: Seat Matrix Verification Process

The seat matrix verification process must be completed by individual PG colleges. The complete procedure is explained below. 

Review of Seat Matrix:  The provisional breakdown of course-wise and category-wise vacancies will be sent separately to each participating college and institute 

Checking for Discrepancies:  Institutions are required to review the numbers and verify the listed seats. Verification must be done for seats offered under each category and course. The fee structure and recent changes are also required to be verified.

Reporting any Errors:  After completing the verification, colleges finding a mismatch in the data must report the same and get the corrections approved by the required authority within the given deadline.

Final Locking:  The discrepancies will be addressed, after which institutions can lock the final seat matrix for candidates to use for the registration and choice filling process.

NEET PG Counselling 2026 Registration

The online registration and choice filling process for the first round of NEET PG counselling will commence on October 12, 2026. Candidates eligible for All India Quota Admissions to Postgraduate Medical courses are required to participate in the AIQ counselling as per the schedule. A total of three rounds of NEET PG counselling will be conducted, followed by an online stray vacancy round.
