NEET PG Counselling 2021 – Key Changes: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will commence the NEET PG Counselling 2021 process as per the official schedule released by it earlier in the week. The first step in the NEET PG Counselling 2021 process would be the registration process which will start tomorrow via the official website. However, before the NEET PG Counselling Registration Begins, it is important for medical aspirants and candidates to be aware of some important changes that have been introduced as part of the counselling process by the MCC. MCC has notified these officially and all candidates are advised to keep these in mind as they prepare to participate in PG Medical Admission Rounds in the coming weeks.

Here are key changes that have been announced by MCC for NEET PG 2021 Counselling Process!

4 Rounds of Counselling for PG Medical Admissions

For 2021 session, the NEET PG Counselling 2021 for All India Quota seats will be held over 4 rounds or in 4 different phases as notified by the MCC in its Counselling schedule. In the previous sessions, the NEET PG Counselling for All India Quota Seats were held only in 2 Rounds for PG medical admissions to central institutions. Any seats left vacant after two Central Rounds of NEET PG Counselling were returned to the state quota of the respective state. But this year, no seats will be returned back to state quota instead all seats under NEET PG Counselling under AIQ will be filled through mop-up round and stray vacancy rounds.

Reservation Policy for AIQ for Central Institutes

After a fierce legal battle that went for nearly 4 months, the Supreme Court of India has upheld the OBC and EWS reservation policy for AIQ seats for NEET PG Counselling 2021. This has changed the ratio in which the reservation policy of AIQ for central institutes and state contributed seats will be managed. The details for the same are as follows:

NRI and Minority Quota Seats to be Converted into AIQ National Seats

MCC has also notified some changes to the seats reserved under Minority Quota as well. As per the notification, all seats which were reserved under NRI, Muslim minority, Jain minority quota, if left unfilled, will be converted into Indian National seats for the mop-up rounds. Earlier, after completion of the mop-up round, these seats were sent back to the deemed universities for the stray vacancy round.

Online Counselling Round for Stray Vacancy Seats

For this session, the MCC will also hold the online counselling round for any stray vacancy seats left after the first two rounds and the mop-up round of NEET PG Counselling 2021. Online Stray Vacancy Round will be held for seats on offer at central universities and Institutes, All India Quota and DNB seats
