Bombay HC order may delay NEET Result

Going by the official timeline, NEET Result 2021 is expected to be released after 26th October 2021 and latest by the end of this month on neet.nta.nic.in. However, the latest order by Bombay High Court directing NTA to hold re-exam for two aspirants has put a spanner in NTA’s plan. If NTA has to comply with Bombay High Court’s order about re-exam for two candidates, it cannot declare NEET 2021 Result on time as per the schedule. To overcome this challenge, the NTA has approached SC seeking its intervention on the matter.

Why did Bombay HC order re-exam for two aspirants?

Recently, two candidates who had appeared for NEET 2021 exam, which was held in offline mode on 12th September 2021 approached the Bombay High Court after they found out mix-up in their exam answer sheets. As per the plea filed by them before the HC, these candidates highlighted that their test booklets and OMR sheets got mixed up during the NEET UG exam. Taking corrective measures after assessing that the students were at no fault of theirs in this mix-up, Bombay HC passed the order directing NTA to hold re-exam for the two candidates. The court directed that the re-exam has to be conducted before the declaration of NEET 2021 results, which has put the testing agency in a very tight spot.
