NMC Invites Applications for Establishment of New Medical Colleges and Increase in Annual Intake of MBBS Seats for 2027-28

The National Medical Commission has issued a notification on establishing new medical colleges and increasing the annual intake of MBBS seats for the 2027028 academic year. According to the official notification released, applications can be submitted through the designated online portal of NMC in accordance with the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, the applicable regulations, including the Establishment of Medical Institutions, Assessment and Rating Regulations and all applicable notifications, standards, guidelines, advisories, directions and instructions issued by the NMC/MARB.

The last date to submit Part A of the online application form is December 31, 2026. The notification further states that no application can be filled, completed, or submitted after this deadline. Part B: Compliance with MSR and Assessment Requirements applications will open on November 1, 2026, and the last date for the submission of Part B of the applications is also December 31, 2026.

Categories of Applications 

Applications are invited under the following categories.

• Establishment of a new Medical College for the MBBS course

• Increase in the annual intake capacity of MBBS seats in an existing Medical College.  

Those applying need to clearly indicate the category of application, the proposed annual intake, the existing sanctioned intake, the proposed increase in intake, wherever applicable, and all other particulars prescribed in the online application.

Requirements for Submission of Application 

The applicant is required to submit complete, accurate, current, authentic, and verifiable information in all applicable fields of the online application. The applicant/Medical College are also required to upload the complete details and certified copies of all applicable documents specified below.

The application must be submitted only after payment of the requisite application fee through the payment link generated during the online application process. It must also be noted that once Part A of the application is submitted and an Application ID/Application Number is generated, the application will be treated as final. The applicant will not be permitted to modify, edit, alter, replace, or add any information, document, or attachment in Part A of the application under any circumstances.
