Punjab Board revises class 9, 10 Computer Science syllabus for academic session 2019-20

Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has removed 15 topics from class 9 and 23 from class 10 computer science syllabus to reduce the difficulty level of the subject. Check here the list of the topics that will not be the part of PSEB Class 9, 10 Computer science syllabus.

Punjab Board Class 9, 10 Syllabus: Punjab Board has given some relief to Class 9 and 10 students by revising the syllabus of computer science for upcoming board exams 2020. Punjab Board has removed some topics to reduce the difficult level of the subject. According to the board, a few topics in the Class 9 and 10 computer science syllabus which students were studying unnecessarily, these topics have been removed. According to some teachers who teach class 9 and 10 students, many topics were beyond the level of class 9 and 10 students. Computer science is a compulsory subject from class 6 to 10 in all schools affiliated to Punjab board. In 2019, 2,074 students had appeared for in Punjab board exam class 10 computer science exam.

Punjab board has released an order on 28 May 2019, regarding the changes in the Class 9, 10 computer science syllabus. As per the order, 15 topics from class 9 and 23 from class 10 computer science syllabus have been removed to lessen the burden on students and reduce difficulty level. The updated syllabus will be applicable for the upcoming board exams 2020.

Topics like number groups, changing chart type, pivot table, what if analysis in MS-Excel; entity and its attributes, entity relationship diagram, and database object in database management system (DBMS) etc have been removed from the Class 9 Computer science syllabus.

From the class 10 computer science syllabus, home schooling programme record in office tools, history of HTML, difference between cellspacing and cellpadding, difference between container and empty tag, types of links, frames, cascading style sheet in HTML; architecture in operation systems, modernisation of desktop publishing; tabs, catalogue and paper folding project in Microsoft Publishing etc have been removed.
