Standard Operating Procedure issued by Odisha for admission to 2020-21 academic session

Odisha School and Mass Education Department have issued a Standard Operating Procedure to be followed during the Elementary, Secondary, and Higher Education classes for the academic year of 2020-21.

Odisha School and Mass Education Department have issued a Standard Operating Procedure to be followed during the Elementary, Secondary, and Higher Education classes for the academic year of 2020-21. The SOP has been issued due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the state. 

According to reports, in a letter issued by the state, it has been mentioned that the school and Mass Education Department has issued the instructions regarding the promotion of students of the Government and Aided Elementary and Secondary Schools of the state as per an official notification released on May 15, 2020. 

Instructions have also been issued for taking up new admissions in the Elementary and Secondary Schools as per the letter issued by the department on June 5, 2020. These instructions are to be applicable for all the government/ aided and unaided recognized schools, Madrassas, and Sanskrit schools under the S&ME Department of Odisha, the letter further stated. 

The SOP issued states that the admissions are to be carried out with full compliance to COVID-19 precautions. The admissions are being conducted with an aim to make sure that none of the children are deprived of education due to the entitlements also making sure that the students are included in grade-appropriate academic activities and further remove the anxiety and stress caused to the students and parents.

The students from class 1 to 8 have been promoted to the next class and the instructions regarding promoting class 9 and 11 students have also been issued by the government. All the admissions conducted based on the promotions within a school will not require the presence of students/guardians as these are rolling admissions and the schools will update their admission register accordingly.

In case the students are to change schools, the parents/ guardians are to obtain a Transfer Certificate from the present schools and submit the same to the new school for the admission procedures. 

The SOP has also clarified that admissions will not be allowed in schools located within containment zones.
