Tamil Nadu Rains: As per the recent updates, the schools and colleges in 4 districts of Tamil Nadu has been shut for today 1st September due to heavy rains. The district collectors of these 4 districts of Tamil Nadu decided to declare a Holiday today for schools and colleges. The 4 districts have been witnessing showers since the early hours of today. As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Nilgiris and Coimbatore.

Schools, Colleges Closed in 4 Districts of Tamil Nadu
All Tamil Nadu Schools and colleges in Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur have been closed for today. Apart from these 4 districts, heavy rain is also expected to occur at Theni, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Thoothukudi, Thenkasi, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu.
Further on 3rd and 4th September 2022, heavy rain is likely to occur over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet and Tiruvannamalai districts.
IMD Issues Warning
As per the Indian Meteorological Department, IMD, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Nilgiris and Coimbatore. Also, as per media reports, light to moderate rainfall at many places with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is likely to go on over the next four days in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
It further added that tomorrow, on 2nd September heavy rain is likely to continue at isolated places over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur and Tiruchirapalli districts.
